How do we make connections with the people around us? How do we make connections with our past and with our future?
In the past, oral history has often been recorded and filed away into archives, stored for the historians of tomorrow to supplement their research. But oral history is a valuable tool that can do so much more than this. Oral history can give a voice to those who have not been heard in the past. Oral history can provide opportunities for conversation and connection. Oral history can give people meaningful validation. Oral history is a way to build empathy and understanding and to bring our communities together.
